The cost of holding the state opening of parliament will be £150,000 a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

Hard-pressed taxpayers will fork out more than £150,000 to stage today’s State Opening of Parliament.

David Cameron’s spin doctors have already leaked almost all of the new laws that the Queen will announce on his behalf.

And the Prime Minister has axed measures aimed at curbing binge drinking and smoking and stopping international aid being slashed in a bid to woo struggling voters.
