A specialist search dog working for the armed police force protecting nuclear power stations was put down after it bit an officer, it has been revealed.

The collie-springer spaniel cross was one of only two dogs put down in six years, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) said.

The CNC is responsible for protecting nuclear sites, such as Sellafield and Sizewell, and other nuclear materials.
