Staffordshire and Cheshire Police put wrong fuel in 91 patrol cars – costing £25k, FOI reveals

Forgetful police in Staffordshire and Cheshire have caused £25,000 of damage to police cars by putting the wrong fuel in them, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

POLICE officers have cost the taxpayer more than £25,000 in two years – after filling up 91 patrol cars with the wrong fuel.

Dozens of officers at Staffordshire Police and Cheshire Constabulary are guilty of the errors.

In Staffordshire, they filled up 35 vehicles in its 550-strong fleet with unleaded petrol instead of diesel, including a BMW S30, Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra.
