More than £3m of taxpayers cash has been spent paying suspended town hall staff over the last two years.

Figures show Greater Manchester councils have paid out the money to 442 suspended employees between April 2011 and August 2013.

The data also shows workers were suspended for an average of 16 weeks while allegations were reviewed.
