The Conservative Party conference in Manchester cost £3.2m to police, double the amount of the Labour conference in the city a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

The security bill for the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester cost the taxpayer twice as much as Labour’s annual convention.
Figures revealed under the Freedom of Information Act show the 2011 Toryconference cost more than £3.2 million to police.
In comparison, £1.6 million was spent on security for the Labour showpiece in the city the following year.
