More than 8,000 hours of ambulance time – almost equivalent to a year – was spent queuing outside A&E departments at North Wales hospitals in six months.

A Freedom of Information request has revealed the shocking statistics for ambulances queuing outside Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Wrexham Maelor and Ysbyty Gwynedd in the six months to January.

In total, 8,174 hours of ambulance time – or 340 days’ worth – was wasted across the three hospitals from August 2014 to January 2015.
