Scotland Yard is solving fewer cases of serious knife crimes in London despite the number of attacks soaring.

Figures show the Met solved 972 stabbings in 2016/17 compared with 1,022 offences in the previous 12 months.

The fall came as the number of stabbings rose by more than 20 per cent from 3,663 cases to 4,415 last year.
