More than 30 MPs have now signed a motion in parliament, led by Labour, to include private healthcare companies in the Freedom of Information Act.
We previously reported the motion here.
Public Service report:
Private healthcare companies should be forced under law to respond to freedom of information requests, something which would help to level the playing field for NHS bodies, dozens of MPs have urged.
An early day motion sponsored by Easington MP Grahame Morris, said that £7bn worth of new contracts were being made available to private sector.
There was a “growing scandal of the procurement model that favours the private health sector over the NHS”, his motion warned.
