The cost of preventing the publication of Prince Charles’ letters has cost taxpayers £274,481 since the government started fighting to block their publication

The Guardian has been trying to make the letters public through requests under the Freedom of Information Act since 2005.

The High Court ruled that the documents must be released in September 2012.
