The Wharf report:

The reliability of the Thames cable car has been questioned after it was revealed the link was closed for 216 hours in its first nine months due to weather problems.

Strong winds is the main cause of suspension and this has led to claims from Mayor Boris Johnson’s opponents the Emirates Air Line is “not a proper form of transport”.

Following a freedom of information request Transport for London admitted the service had been closed on 69 separate occasions in the period between July last year April this year.
