Colchester high street traffic ban promotion cost £11,000 – only to be cancelled after a month

The BBC report:

More than £11,000 was spent promoting an ill-fated traffic ban that was scrapped within a month.

Under the regulations, cars and delivery vehicles were to be barred from Colchester High Street between 11:00 and 18:00 each day.

But last month Essex County Council cancelled the order amid claims it was harming town centre trade.
