Commons Christmas tree budget doubled from 2011, FOI reveals

The amount spent on Christmas trees last year doubled from 2011 a FOI request has revealed. 

Although the budget increased to £12,000, this is much lower than in previous years.

The amount of taxpayers’ money allocated for Christmas trees in the House of Commons nearly doubled in 2012, official figures have revealed.

A response to a Freedom of Information request revealed that £12,000 had been budgeted for House of Commons Christmas trees in 2012 – nearly twice the amount that was spent in 2011.
