FOI reveals £120,000 paid out by the Royal Borough in compromise agreements to staff

The Royal Observer report:

MONEY forked out by the Royal Borough in compromise agreements to employees has almost trebled in a year.

A Freedom of Information (FoI) request revealed in the financial year 2012/13 up to March 18, the Royal Borough paid out £328,185.19 to current or ex-employees in compromise agreements – the figure for 2011/12 stood at £122,150.83.

A compromise agreement is signed when an employee or former employee waives their right to statutory claims, including unfair dismissal due to discrimination, breach of contract or salary not paid in full in exchange for a lump sum.
