The Government spent the colossal sum on premium satellite TV packages in prisons and immigration centres so that detainees could watch Premier League football and the latest movies in comfort.

Figures released to Express.co.uk under Freedom of Information laws show that the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) spent a needless £241,660 on Sky TV in just three years.
