The House of Lords has been plunged into fresh shame after embracing the tyranny of zero-hours jobs for almost 60 staff.

While wealthy peers-for-life pocket up to £300 a day for just turning up, scores of employees wait to be called in at short notice on a “no work, no pay” basis, without job security or even the safety net of paid redundancy.
