The BBC sacked 14 out of 78 employees found guilty of misdemeanors including fraud, theft or misusing resources last year, according to new figures.

The details, released via a freedom of information request, found just one staff member was demoted while 54 received warnings for offences carried out at work.

A further seven were issued with ‘formal improvement notices’. It is not known how many BBC staff were investigated and eventually cleared.
