FOI reveals Cambridge University spends £3m on wine

Cambridge University spent almost £3 million on wine last year, the equivalent of the tuition fees of 300 students.

Colleges at the university splashed out on wine for student functions, including providing alcohol at undergraduate dinners.

Spending at the university, which charges students the maximum £9,000 a year tuition fee, equates to more than £7,000 a day on wine, a Freedom of Information request revealed.
