Colchester’s new bus lane rules have not been issued a single ticket this year.

The bus lanes, introduced last October for motorists going up North Hill and turning from High Street into Queen Street, proved immediately controversial after fines of £1million were issued in less than three months.

After an online furore at the end of December 2013, Rodney Bass, transport boss at Essex County Council, waived the tickets and installed more signs in an amnesty which ended on Saturday, January 11.
