Coventry City Council trebled the amount it picked up in fines from litter louts – thanks to a massive blitz.

The £14,000 total was more than three times that what was collected over the previous 12 months.

The number of fines handed out by the city council trebled in 2013 to coincide with an extra push by officers to clamp down on litterbugs in the city.
