The Mirror report:

Up to one in five wife-beaters could be escaping justice because of police cuts.

Despite an increase in domestic violence since the election almost 15% fewer suspects are now being hauled before prosecutors, according to Freedom of Information statistics seen by the Mirror.

In some police forces there has been a drop of almost 20% over the last three years.
