A BOOK by Michael Gove is on a blacklist of titles — ranging from Hitler’s Mein Kampf to The Satanic Verses, by Salman Rushdie — that have been banned from prison libraries.

Celsius 7/7, the education secretary’s 2006 treatise on Islamic extremism, has been deemed forbidden reading for prisoners, according to documents released under the Freedom of Information Act.

It is among 200 books on prison blacklists, including works by the Sunday Times columnist Jeremy Clarkson, the Booker prizewinner Ian McEwan, the science writer Ben Goldacre, the survival expert Ray Mears and the peer and former Conservative MP Jeffrey Archer.
