FOI reveals minsters’ chauffeur-driven car bill soars to £6.3million

Chauffeur-driven government cars are thought to have cost the taxpayer more than £6million last year as ministers are accused of a “shocking” lack of transparency over their use of the service.

The government has failed to produce supposedly “annual” figures for spending on official cars for three years since a new system was introduced.
