The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics write:
According to figures released last week, more than 2,000 victims of female genital mutilation (FGM) have sought treatment at London hospitals in the last three years.
A total of 2,115 girls and women were admitted for complications arising due to FGM between 2010 and summer this year, the Evening Standard reported.
Furthermore, some 298 patients were required to undergo surgery to reverse harmful consequences of the illegal practice.
