More than 2,000 NHS patients were treated in hospital for malnutrition last year.

Freedom of Information data revealed a rise of more than 250 cases compared with three years ago.

And there were 193 “episodes” of malnutrition in 12 months at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust alone, according to the figures.
