And the route that causes the most misery for motorists in the city is the Ormeau Road, writes Sara Girvin.

Figures released to Sunday Life following a Freedom of Information request reveal that there were 5,729 police recorded road traffic collisions in Northern Ireland between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013.

Of those accidents — most occurred on the Ormeau Road, followed by the Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast, the Hillsborough Road in Lisburn, the Falls Road in west Belfast and north Belfast’s Antrim Road.
