FOI reveals nurse paid £1,800 for one shift

A hospital which has drawn criticism from watchdogs for high spending on temporary and agency staff has paid an agency nurse £1,800 for just one A&E shift. It also paid a locum doctor the same rate for 10 hours work, according to a Freedom of Information Act request.

The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust spent more than £4.7million to plug staff shortages between January and November 2013.
