Private firms are profiting from extortionate hospital parking fees paid by NHS patients and relatives, an investigation has revealed.

The companies walk away with millions of pounds that the public has been led to believe is invested in vital treatment and care.

Nearly half of hospital trusts hire private firms to run their car parks and collect fees of up to £4 an hour.
