Residents in Cambridge have been forced to pay out £26,000 in the last three years after their wheelie bins were either stolen or burnt a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

In two years 260 bins were reported as being stolen from outside houses.

Cambridge News report:

Householders in Cambridge have forked out £26,000 in three years to replace hundreds of burnt, stolen or lost wheelie bins.

Most of the cash was spent on replacement black bins costing residents £50 each, according to Cambridge City Council, which manages the city’s bin collections.

The total also includes residents who paid a lesser fee of £25 for a reconditioned black bin and fees for replacing larger bins at blocks of flats in the city.
