Misbehaving students at a Liverpool university are being made to carry out “community service” to make up for their misdemeanours.

Hope University is thought to be the only university in England which makes students who break the rules complete unpaid work.

The university, which is shaped by Christian principles, hands out the punishment to “help the student to amend their behaviour so as to create a harmonious place to live for others”.
