The Department for Business Innovation and Skills has spent more than £60,000 to employ three new members of staff a Freedom of Information request has revealed. 

The three senior civil servants were employed by the department over a period of three years. During 2010/11 £47,950 was spent on search fees to select two of the civil servants. One of the two employed was selected from another government department.

The following year BIS paid £16,000 employing the third senior civil servant.

The three employees total a spent of £63,950.
