Jersey FOI laws set for 2015

Jersey should have a Freedom of Information law from the start of next year.

The island’s Chief Minister has today more details of the new legislation – it includes a proposed cap on the amount of public money bodies should spend on requests for information from islanders.

Explaining the need for changes to original plans for the law, Senator Ian Gorst said: “As work has progressed, some difficulties have been identified with provisions of the law that may cause practical difficulties or have unwanted effects following implementation of the law.”
