The amount of money spent by the Met Police on flights for officers increased by £1.4m in just a year a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

The Daily Mirror report:

Our biggest police force spent £4million jetting officers around the world last year – including almost 1,500 in business class.

The Metropolitan Police paid for 1,461 business class and 36 first class flights, despite cutting services as it slashes £500million from its budget by 2015.

The £4,077,374 bill was up a third from £2,675,768 the previous year, leading to claims the Met was “wasting taxpayers’ money”.
