North Yorkshire Police release wrong figures in FOI on children arrested

Police responding to a Freedom of Information request on the number of children arrested released incorrect figures they have said. 

North Yorkshire Police said after they have looked at the data again the numbers were much higher than they should have been.

Harrogate News report:

Following a Freedom of Information request submitted by the Howard League for Penal Reform, North Yorkshire Police released figures showing there had been a significant rise in the number of children aged under 17 arrested by officers in 2011.

However, further analysis of the data has indicated that the force gave a figure that was significantly higher than it should have been.
