Staff at the education watchdog racked up bills of almost £4 million on company credit cards, it has been reported.

Ofsted employees spent the taxpayer money on champagne, luxury hotels in Cyprus and gourmet meals in London restaurants, the Daily Mail said.

A Freedom of Information request disclosed the credit card bills, which were run up by around 450 Ofsted officials and inspectors over the past five years.
