Prisoners win thousands of cash prizes from bingo, FOI reveals

Prisoners in England have been given thousands of pounds of tax-payers money as part of games inside jails, a Freedom of Information request has revealed. 

The Mirror report:

Prisons holding Britain’s most evil killers sparked outrage by giving inmates thousands of pounds in prizes for winning bingo and other games.

Official figures reveal £4,391 was paid out to prisoners at Wakefield jail, which holds Soham child murderer Ian Huntley and Milly Dowler killer Levi Bellfield.

The cash was doled out at the West Yorkshire prison, dubbed Monster Mansion, over the past five years.
