A headteachers’ conference in Teeside cost £18,000 a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

HEADTEACHERS on Teesside are still spending thousands of pounds on luxury hotel getaways despite pressure on school budgets, the Evening Gazette can reveal.
Schools in Redcar and Cleveland blew almost £18,000 on a single annual two-day headteachers’ conference in October last year in a move branded “appalling” by campaigners the Taxpayers’ Alliance.
Heads were treated to an overnight stay at the plush four-star Redworth Hall Hotel in County Durham – even though it is just an hour’s drive from Redcar.
