Welsh police criticised for buying £75,000 lighthouse sculpture, FOI reveals

South Wales Police chiefs have been criticised for buying a £75,000 sculpture for a station in Cardiff – the biggest bill for police public art in Britain in the last five years.

Taxpayers money’ was used to pay for a 60ft high stainless steel lighthouse sculpture to sit outside the steps of the police station in Cardiff Bay.

The cost is enough to pay for four new police recruits for the station in Cardiff Bay covering crime spots in the Welsh capital.
